Earlier, the Human Resource Development HRD ministry had advised all the state governments to brink uniformity in the syllabus of Class 12 exams so that students can benefit. However, the number of subjects has not been changed, the syllabus, however, has changed and is more oriented towards skill development. The CHSE, earlier, wanted to replace the existing syllabus, this year onward, however they decided to push it to the next academic year as the classes had already started.
The CHSE chairman said that since it was not possible to bring the changes in all the 31 subjects of the three streams, he decided to put out the framework for the changes this year and implement it from the next year.
The changes were made by a 10 member professors' team under the guidance of syllabi committee. However, no changes were made in the marking pattern. The Odisha State Bureau of Text Book Preparation and Production will print the books according to the new syllabus for all the three streams before April next year.
The committee has also decided that the Class 12 examinations will be completed by March and the results will be declared by May so that the students can attend the counselling of central technical institutions. The registration forms for the examinations began on November 18 and will continue till December 3.
