Geniul afisat in "Morometii" se intrevede deja in aceste lucrari. Nu inceteaza sa ma surprinda stilul colocvial in care scrie Preda dar, in acelasi timp, capacitatea de a nuanta atat de sugestiv personajele mediului rural.

Thus they are quite different and the melange doesn't quite fit well together. Besides that, I am one of the fans of Preda's works and I enjoyed most of the short novellas included in this collection.
Especially the ones written during the World War II were quite new to me and I liked them for their interesting image of the rural Romania. This image is quite different than the o I did not liked the collection because it contains different types of writings from various times of the author's life. This image is quite different than the one portrayed by Rebreanu or by the writers from "Samanatorism" literary trend that was very popular when Preda was young.
